Has anyone been concerned about dark elbows this summer?

I was also really stressed out because of the pigmentation on my elbowsใ…œใ…œ Since knees and elbows are parts of the body that easily get pigmented, even if they get a little darker, they look darker than other parts..

I've been struggling with elbow discoloration, so I've been researching ways to manage it! I'll share with you what I've found, from the causes to treatment and management.

1. Causes of elbow discoloration

1) Pressure

It is said that areas where joints bend and straighten, such as the elbows, and where pressure and friction are frequently experienced are prone to pigmentation!

In particular, if you have a habit of resting your elbows on the desk, it is said that the pressure can cause elbow discoloration.

2) Friction

Additionally, friction can occur on the elbows as they rub against clothing, which can irritate the skin and cause discoloration. This increased exposure to external stimuli can lead to the production of more melanin, which can build up and make the skin appear darker.

3) Dry skin

The skin on the elbows is thicker than on other areas to protect the protruding bones. As the skin wrinkles and straightens, it can easily dry out. This causes dead skin cells to peel and build up, potentially causing discoloration.

2. Elbow pigmentation treatment

If you are concerned about severe pigmentation on your elbows, you may want to consider laser treatment.

They say that you can receive body toning treatment depending on your individual skin type.

1) Pico Toning

Pico toning is a treatment that selectively destroys melanin by penetrating the epidermis and deep into the dermis. It is said to help alleviate pigmentation.

2) Laser toning

3. Elbow pigmentation management

Managing elbow discoloration is important in everyday life! I'll share some tips on how to manage it. :)

1) Exfoliation

To manage pigmentation, exfoliating with a scrub is said to be helpful. Be sure to exfoliate gently, as scrubbing too hard can worsen the pigmentation.

2) Use moisturizing cream

After exfoliating, you should apply a generous amount of moisturizing cream. If you don't moisturize properly after exfoliating, your skin can become dry and irritated, so you need to apply cream.

3) Improve your habits

Some people may rest their arms on their desks. This posture can cause friction and irritation to the elbows, which can lead to discoloration, so it's best to avoid it.
